Installing PruTAN for Desktop

PruTAN provides a desktop application that runs locally on your machine with PruTAN Core and Executor services. This enables offline API development, testing, and advanced features like Sandbox, Interceptor, and Stress lab testing without cloud dependency.

Prerequisites

  • Windows 10/11 or macOS 11+
  • Internet for initial download (offline after install)

1. Download PruTAN

  1. Visit prutan.com.
  2. Click the Download button in the top right corner.

  1. You'll be navigated to the download page showing OS-specific installers for Windows and macOS.

Note: Below the main download button, find "More download options" link. Clicking it reveals both Windows (.exe) and macOS (.dmg) files for alternative versions or architectures.

Download the appropriate installer for your OS.

2. Install PruTAN

Windows

  1. Locate Prutan-Setup.exe.
  2. Double-click to run.
  3. Follow prompts:
    • Give permission to Prutan to make changes.
    • Choose installation directory (default recommended).

  1. Complete installation. Prutan icon added to desktop/Start menu.

macOS

  1. Double-click the .dmg installer file.
  2. Drag Prutan app icon to Applications folder (wait for copy to complete).

  1. Use Spotlight (Cmd + Space), search "Prutan", click app icon.

3. Launch and Get Started

  1. Double-click the Prutan icon.
  2. PruTAN Core and Executor services will start automatically in the background (first launch may take ~30 seconds).
  3. The PruTAN application window will open once services are ready.

Quick Start

First Use

  • Default Data: Use pre-loaded sample collections to explore REST/ISO testing, Sandbox, etc.
  • Create New Dataset: Import your APIs or start fresh via the Studio module.

Troubleshooting

PruTAN Desktop Application provides Logs option to debug errors:
  1. Navigate to Help in the top left corner.
  2. Click Help to see options: About PruTAN, Build Information, Internals, & Logs.
  3. Select Logs to open a dedicated logs window.

In the logs window:

  • Filter by services, levels, time, etc.
  • Search, copy, or download log files as needed.
